The Krav Maga Institute NYC holds daily reality-based and effective self-defense classes all over New York City. Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art. It’s not competitive, and there are no rules, belts, katas or rings. It is a modern and practical form of self-defense designed for the streets, bars and nightclubs and for those trips abroad. It focuses on battle-tested, easy-to-learn techniques, strength and aggression building, and realistic training.
Krav Maga consists of practical techniques derived from boxing, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, grappling, and street fighting. Modern Israeli self defense classes focus on building self-confidence, practical fitness – including stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy – and acquiring knowledge while learning practical and easy-to-learn self defense techniques. The skills learned in classes help improve the quality of your day-to-day life.
Self defense is the most straightforward way to avoid dangerous situations and protect yourself. It’s always better to avoid a violent attack then to go through one and attempt to survive it. Women’s self defense classes don’t only teach practical and effective martial arts, but also cover numerous ways to avoid and navigate dangerous situations.
A lot of perpetrators choose women as their victims because women are seen as passive and less likely to fight back. There are many ways for women to protect themselves from their attackers but they must be able to physically protect themselves from their attackers if they ever get assaulted again.
For those wanting to fine tune their skills or to kick start their regular training with one to one tuition. We offer an introductory service to assist you to arrange a private training schedule with any of our experienced instructor team members. For many people, weekly classes may not be a reality – we all lead busy lives, packed with busy schedules. We believe that this should not affect your ability to train, and our instructors love to train – just as much as you!
A typical Krav Maga lesson includes Krav Maga related fitness and aggression drills designed to assist the learning process by reinforcing natural movements and reactions that are used in Krav Maga techniques. The drills also get you incredibly fit. Your ability to stay safe and defend yourself effectively depends on a number of factors including knowledge and your ability to remember, perform, and carry out certain techniques.
KMI’s self-defense and martial arts classes for kids teach more than effective fighting skills—we provide children with the confidence and self-esteem they need to stand up for themselves. We want them to know that they are allowed to fight back when someone is trying to harm them. In school and in life, children are typically told not to fight.
The ethics of our self-defense classes provide children with clear boundaries on when and where it is appropriate to fight back. Give your child the opportunity to learn self-discipline and provide them with the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning a valuable life skill with KMI’s self-defense classes for kids.
Our kickboxing classes are not just group fitness classes. They are designed to improve your mental and physical strength. There’s no denying that one of the foundations of a strong mind and body and your ability to defend yourselves and others, is professional level physical and mental strength and fitness training. Specialized strength and fitness are important factors in getting the most out of professional level self-defense and fighting training.
KMI is a modern self-defense, fighting, tactical training and strength and fitness center. It is not a gym, we provide training in self defense, fighting and mental and physical toughness training that promotes a positive and robust mind set, elite-level strength and fitness, awareness, quality of life, good health and ultimately, longevity.
Kickboxing is part of S.P.E.C. – which stands for Specialized Physical Education Course, it is a Martial Arts and Krav Maga based fitness system.
S.P.E.C. is our strength (mental and physical) and fitness program. It is a comprehensive strength and fitness system usually practiced in a range of classes but covered under one class here in NYC called Combat Cardio (c2).
Our NYC strength and fitness classes maximize mental resilience, physical strength, anaerobic/aerobic resistance, and overall defensive effectiveness. KMI is a self-defense and martial arts school with a core focus on strong minds as well as strong bodies.
The program includes:
Cardiovascular and Anaerobic Fitness. Endurance, power, strength and interval training. The part of the NYC program will take you to the next level of fitness, increasing cardiovascular endurance, physical strength and agility.
Combative techniques and striking forms including punching, kicking, and other reinforcing combative strategies. The goal of this class is to boost power, agility, and endurance while improving fighting skills, striking technique, and defensive effectiveness.
Kettlebells for strength and power allowing a complete strength training experience that works the entire musculature. Working from the core to the lesser muscle groups, this technique uses functional and combative movements to make you a stronger and more agile fighter.
Our supplementary combatives program includes Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. Training in these specific disciplines will reinforce techniques learned in self-defense classes. In particular, Muay Thai will reinforce striking skills. These classes are also highly cardio-vascular and improve strength and fitness, particularly core strength.
